About Badminton Finland
Badminton Finland is the governing body for the sport of badminton in Finland. It is responsible for promoting and developing the sport in Finland. The organization was established in 1954 and has nowadays approximately 120 member clubs throughout Finland with 7000 members altogether.
The tasks of the organization are to promote the sport of badminton at all levels, provide information and services to the member clubs and oversee the interests of the sport and the member clubs. Badminton Finland operates on three fields of activity defined by the Ministry of Education: children and youth, high performance and recreational badminton for adults.
In addition, Badminton Finland coaches and sends teams to international tournaments and arranges annually the Finnish International Championships and Finnish Open International which are part of the Badminton Europe Circuit.
Badminton Finland was also the host of European Junior Championships 15th-24th April 2011 at Energia Areena, Vantaa.
The organization of Badminton Finland also includes several steering groups which are responsible for promotion, co-ordination and development inside their field of activity.
Badminton Finland is headquartered at the Finnish Sport Federation’s (SLU) premises in Pasila district of Helsinki.
